GET THE FACTS ABOUT HOW TO BE HEALTHY WHILE HAVING FUN FREE HEALTH SCREENINGS. FREE FOOD. GIVEAWAYS. Why: Human beings struggle world-wide to maintain adequate levels of health in order to live nourishing, fulfilling lives. In America alone, 800,000 people are diagnosed each year with diabetes. According to the New York State Department of Health, cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death for the state’s citizens, 10,000 people die each year from smoking, and NYC has the highest AIDS case rate compared to any other major city in the United Sates. With so many serious health issues in the community and so many huge goals to reach, I recognize the immense need for someone to actively take a stand for the community in order to effectively address these crucial issues, or perhaps nothing will ever change.
Mission: To provide education on a wide-variety of illnesses, to promote illness prevention, and provide FREE comprehensive health screenings in a paradise-like environment to further inspire people to take responsibility for their well-being and vitality . The First Annual Paradise Health Fair will target homeless and low-income individuals in New York City, but ANYONE is welcome to come out, learn, and have fun!
Vision: To decrease the amount of non-emergent visits to local emergency departments, to significantly decrease the prevalence of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, and smoking by presenting information to the guests in a way that will inspire them to change their current habits. The First Annual Paradise Health Fair will provide tips on easy, affordable ways to engage in exercise and healthy-eating while creating an outlet for healthcare professionals and other volunteers to fulfill on their commitment to making a difference in the community. www.nimblefitness.com
